MNCRM

‘This collection showcases the craftsmanship and mastery of exceptional group of artists, designers and creators, all working within the of the monochromatic. Through painting, photography and sculpture MNCRM explores the timeless appeal of black and white, light and dark, peace and chaos - demonstrating how this classic palette continues to inspire across all artistic disciplines.’

This latest work marks the start of a new era within my practice. A welcome change after the last 12 months of research into the nuances and history of my craft.

'Ascension' is the result of a journey of discovery I entered into after my @qestcraft scholarship. I had an intense need for change within the way I approached my work. A desire to push my own personal boundaries, and that of my craft.

This piece was crafted in reference to the history of marquetry and parquetry. An homage to how for centuries craftspeople have 'painted with wood', creating emotion and feeling with impossible precision.

As materials and technologies change, the possibilities become endless within the craft world. It's been a joy to start anew with the influences of marquetry masters and artists such as Mary Delaney, an absolute power house of a lady, inspiring my practice.

'Ascension' includes a trio of butterflies, often used to represent growth and freedom, and the ivy was used as a sign of fidelity and friendship.
